Suzanne Noelle Schmalzer

December 26, 1964 - July 24, 2010

Suzanne Noelle Schmalzer passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at the University of Washington Medical Center after a five month battle with ovarian cancer. She is survived by her mother, Rita Hussey of Indian Valley, Idaho, her father, Robert Janes of Los Angeles, California, as well as her husband Peter and daughter Katharine Rose Schmalzer of Seattle, Washington.

Suzanne was born in Los Angeles, California and grew up in Malibu, where she loved the beaches and riding horseback in the canyons surrounding her home. She attended high school at the Ojai Valley School, and completed her Bachelor's degree at the University of California at Berkeley.

Suzanne moved to Seattle in 1992 and worked in event planning, freelance writing, and professional editing with MSN. She made many close friends throughout her life and career and made it a priority to actively maintain these associations throughout her life, even as their paths diverged. Many of these dear friends were with her at the hospital to the end of her life.

Suzanne Schmalzer "lived in the Big Words," that is, she actively worked to develop and live true to her self, her integrity, honesty, and passions, always showing up for those she loved and those in need. Suzanne understood that this is the real and true currency of life on this Earth.

A funeral service will be held at St. James Cathedral in Seattle on 1:00 pm on August 9, 2010, with a reception for close friends and family to follow.
